Minority Adoption

Minority Adoption

Lutheran Social Services is committed to the "security of all children."  African-American and bi-racial (African-American and Caucasian) children wait for their forever families.  LSS' minority adoption program is open and on-going in taking applications.  The following criteria is considered for enrollment into this program:

  • Married couples - no age restrictions
  • Open to open adoption
  • Wisconsin / Upper Michigan resident

LSS' Domestic Minority Program offers:

  • Guidance from professional staff
  • Open Adoption
  • Confidential counseling
  • Parenting education
  • Assistance with family profiles

Wait Time

The wait time can often be a difficult time for prospective adoptive families.  LSS' experienced staff is able to assist families during this waiting time until placement with a child.  Because birth parents choose their adoptive family in open adoption, LSS does not have a "waiting list."  A family may be chosen soon after their home study is finished, but in most cases, it does take longer.
