If you have read a newspaper or listened to a news broadcast in the US recently, you are likely aware of the story of 7 year old Artyum whose adoptive mother sent him back to Russia on a flight alone and unaccompanied with a note addressed to Russian authorities.
LSS wants to assure everyone that our staff in the US and Russia are actively advocating on behalf of Russian children. As members of the Joint Council of International Children’s Services (JCICS), LSS is participating in the Call to Action regarding Russia and we are encouraging all families to participate as well. Please see the JCICS website .
As recently as today (4/14/10), no halts in processing of adoptions have occurred as a result of this incident, despite media reports to the contrary. For the most up to date information, visit the JCICS website and LSS will keep you informed.
Thank you all for your compassion for this child and for the thousands like him who wait and wonder if they will ever experience the arms of a supportive and caring family
If you share your story, would you copy LSS adoption in on any stories or videos that they may share with this call to action below. Send your stories to Martha Nack at Martha.Nack@lsswis.org or Shannon Suda at Shannon.Suda@lsswis.org
