Ambassadors go to child care facilities to see where the children live.  The children are very proud to provide a tour of orphange.  Here is a blog posting from Signa Meyers about her experience.

This morning we (Beth, Jen and I) visited two of the caring facilities.  When we arrived this morning, one child was excited (in his own way--very calmly) to see us.  He showed us his bed with the treats and games that were donated by the LSS Ambassador program on his bed.  A touching moment for all of us was when he brought out a fun size bag of chocolate covered pretzels and shared them (all 10? of them) with his friends and "little brother".  He seems to be so selfless and caring towards the other, younger children around him.

At another care facility, we actually visited three homes and a school.  When we arrived, one girl was dissapointed that all the Ambassadors were not there.  She wanted to see all of us again.  We assured her that tomorrow she would see us all again.  The first house we visted was the home of a boy.  He was very excited to show us his cabinet/cubby as well as his bed (he gets a top bunk!).

The girl was very proud to show us her girlscout uniform.  One thing I did notice was that some of the other girls in the house were wearing hair baubles that she was given by us.  She must have shared them with her other friends when she got back.

As with each of the caring facilities, each child has a chore or charge they are assigned to do either daily or weekly based on a schedule.   A girl said her favorite chore was cleaning the girl's room and least favorite was cleaning the CR (comfort room=bathroom).  The boy's favorite task was cleaning the boy's room and least favorite was cleaning the kitchen.

The girl was super affectionate today and held both our hands.  She kissed us on the cheek when we left and blew kisses to us as we loaded up into our van.

I cannot speak for the other group, but today's visit was a reminder that we only have ONE more day with the children.  Time is flying by so fast!  I can't believe it.  All of the ambassadors are trying to either prepare or not think about the farewell party tomorrow as we say our goodbyes to the children and begin our concerted efforts on finding them forever families.
Until tomorrow.....
